All we wanted to build was an awning over the deck at the back of our pub. We thought this would be a relatively easy task, until we realised the heritage implications of the project. As part of the operations of Hunter Mobile Welding Fabrications Pty Ltd there were times when we had to undertake minor repairs and construction on our rural residential property.  Council advised us that we would need to submit a development application (DA) for such works.  While a rural industry was a permissible use of the land and Council Officers were supportive of our DA we had one neighbour who objected to our development.  Our development was referred to a full Council meeting for a final decision on whether consent for our DA would be granted.  The CPS team guided us through the process and attended the Council meeting with us.   We were successful in gaining approval for our DA.

We had previously attempted to submit a DA to Council for replacement of the roof without any success and a lot of grief.  As the existing roof had sustained serious storm damage we could not just give up.  We engaged Complete Planning Solutions to prepare and submit a new DA to Council.  CPS was able to argue that the replacement of the existing slate roof with a new slate roof was cost prohibited, with Council granting consent for a colorbond roof.  Using CPS made the process so much easier.
